  • Selection Procedure
India has currently 8 boards for selecting candidates for Army, Navy and Air Force. All these boards judges the candidates on the basis of three scientific tests named Psychological Tests, Group Tests and Personal Interview. Each board have all necessary arrangements for providing a comfortable testing environment to candidates.

The following are the place where the Service Selection Boards in India are located.

  • Dehradun
  • Allahabad
  • Varanasi
  • Gandhinagar
  • Bhopal
  • Banglore
  • Mysore
  • Coimbatore
Apart from general boarding and lodging facilities every board makes arrangement for picking and dropping the candidates from and to the railway station or bus stand.

Stage 1

Screening Test – Day 1

  • IQ Test – Verbal and Non verbal
  • Picture Perception & Description Test / Discussion

Note: Candidates qualifying Stage I will continue to undergo Stage II others will be returned on this day.

Psychological Test – Day 2

  • Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)
  • Word Association Test (WAT)
  • Situation Reaction Test (SRT)
  • Self Description Test

Group Testing Officer’s (GTO) tests & Interviews of candidates – Day 3

  • Group Discussion
  • Lecturette
  • Group Planning Exercise
  • Progressive Group Test
  • Group Obstacles Race
  • Half Group Task

Group Testing Officer – Tests & interviews of candidates – Day 4

  • Individual Obstacles
  • Command Task
  • Group Task

Conference and declaration of results – Day 5

Stage 3

Medical Test for successful candidates from Stage II(next 2 to 3 days)
